Two DUI Arrests at CHP Checkpoint (Update)

Conducted On Highway 138 Near Silverwood Lake

Silverwood Lake, CA - The California Highway Patrol arrested two individuals on suspicion of driving under the influence during a sobriety checkpoint on Highway 138 near Silverwood Lake.

CHP officers conducted the checkpoint on Highway 138, just west of Gleghorn Road, July 3, and made contact with 447 vehicles.

During the operation of the checkpoint, officers evaluated 15 drivers for possible DUI violations, impounded two vehicles for driver's license violations, and issued 20 citations for various misdemeanors and infractions.

The checkpoint was conducted by the Arrowhead Region headquarters based in Running Springs.

Running Springs, CA - The California Highway Patrol will be conducting a sobriety/license checkpoint today, July 3. The checkpoint will be at an undisclosed location in the unincorporated mountain area. The hours of operation have not been announced.

The Arrowhead office of the CHP is conducting the checkpoint to ensure the safe passage of each and every motorist. A sobriety checkpoint is a proven effective tool for achieving the goal and is designated to augment existing patrol operations.

Drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs can expect to be arrested.

The objective of the CHP office in Running Springs is to send a clear message to those considering mixing alcohol and/or drugs with driving. The CHP will be keeping a close eye out for impaired drivers.

During a recent DUI checkpoint in Crestline, officers made 567 public contacts, issued 16 citations, stored two vehicles and made two arrests including one while officers were returning to the Running Springs headquarters.
