Annual Community Feast Serves Turkey Dinners (Photo Update)Mountain Children's Christmas Fund Benefits By Michael P. During the event, sponsored by a number of community groups, entertainment was provided by the Sunday Jammers and the Praying Piper.
Volunteers not only served and delivered meals, but they also cooked the meals that were also served to the regular Meals On Wheels clients. ![]() Deep fried turkeys prepared by members of E Clampus Vitus soon made their way to the Thanksgiving dinner plates and take-out dinners prepared for area shut-ins. Chef Bennie Batres, at the Pinecrest Conference Center, cooked 40 turkeys and at 3 a.m. Thanksgiving Day the carving began. Turkeys were donated by Senator Bob Dutton, Supervisor Paul Biane and Assemblyman Anthony Adams. Supervisor Neil Derry donated $500 to help pay for incidentals necessary to stage the event.
And, Lake Arrowhead Country Club donated 10 meals that were delivered to a family in Crestline to enjoy on Thanksgiving.
Any money left over at the end of the event is designated to go to the Mountain Children's Christmas Fund.

Last year, well over 100 meals were prepared and served by volunteers. Original Story Twin Peaks, CA – The menu is set—roasted turkey, homemade stuffing, fresh cooked mashed potatoes, gravy, yams, fruit salad and pumpkin pie—for the Fifth Annual Thanksgiving Dinner, to be held from noon to 3 p.m., at the Masonic Temple in Twin Peaks Thursday, November 26.
The Mountain Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner group invites everyone to the free feast. Last year, volunteers served 110 meals, delivered 11 regular "Meals on Wheels" dinners for Mountains Community Hospital and delivered an additional 24 dinners to shut-ins who had requested dinner.

The group reports that all cash donated the day of the event will again be contributed to the Mountain Children's Christmas Fund. Last year, the group collected $500 and donated unused food to the Crestline Food Bank.
Volunteers who would like to help prepare the meal, and/or serve the Thanksgiving Day feast, should call Rose Halpin at (909) 338-2274, Paula Marzicola at (909) 338-4128, or Margaret Jones at (909) 804-2169.
Individuals needing take out meals for shut-ins should call Joyce Banner at (909) 338-3112, or Jani Sue Hayes at (909) 338-7068, so that meals can be prepared and ready for pick-up and delivery on Thanksgiving Day.
Donations are also being taken at Paula's Crestline Cafe in Old Town Crestline.
