One the $53 million in projects from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) funded will be to remove and install metal beam guardrail and end treatments to reduce the severity of collisions on the mostly two-lane highway.

One transportation project approved in the Inland Empire was for the installation of steel guardrail end treatments at several locations along Highway 330 between Highland and Running Springs. (Photo by Michael P. Neufeld.)

That project was funded under an $1.7 million award for similar work in Rialto, San Bernardino, Route 66 and Highway 259 in the Inland Empire.

Caltrans received $1.4 million to develop a geographical information system that will enable the state transportation agency to maintain an inventory of important archeological sites in San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

SANBAG (San Bernardino Associated Governments) and the City of Fontana were awarded $3.2 million to assist with the Citrus Avenue interchange reconstruction on I-10. The project involves a relocation assistance program for one business and one single-family residence.

The Cherry Avenue interchange on I-10 also received $3.9 million to replace the deficient interchange and provide relocation assistance for two single-family residences and one business.

SANBAG also received $1.2 million for planning, programming and monitoring of various projects.
