Applicants Wanted for Rotary Youth Leadership AwardsScheduled April 9-11 at Thousand Pines Camp By Michael P. Crestline, CA - Each year, local Rotary clubs invite young people to take part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program. Tuition is paid by Rotarians and this year's training session will be held at Thousand Pines Christian Camp and Conference Center from April 9-11. ![]() Thousand Pines Christian Camp and Conference Center is located at 359 Thousand Pines Road in Crestline. Ten students are being sponsored by the Mountain Sunrise Rotary and Lake Arrowhead Rotary and 11th grade students from the mountain communities have until Tuesday, February 23, to apply.
Applications are available and should be turned in at the Assistant Principal's Office at Rim High School so the two Rotary clubs can complete the paperwork and notify the award recipients. Students can be from home-school, church school, or regular high school, so long as they are in 11th grade.
RYLA provides a unique opportunity for young people to develop leadership skills and self-confidence under the guidance of business professionals who belong to local Rotary clubs.

Neufeld, RIMOFTHEWORLD.net Managing News Editor, is a graduate of the Dwight Bentel School of Journalism at San Jose State University. His first job out of San Jose State was with the Associated Press in Los Angeles as overnight Radio Editor. Prior to joining RIMOFTHEWORLD.net, Neufeld was editor of two weekly newspapers—THE MOUNTAIN NEWS and CRESTLINE COURIER-NEWS. He also has experience as editor of an employee newspaper for a major utility company and during his tenure as executive director of the San Jose State University Alumni Association served as faculty advisor to the association's monthly newsletter. He also spent eight years in commercial radio doing everything from news to advertising sales and writing commercials to being an announcer and on-air personality.
