Crestline, CA - Each year, local Rotary clubs invite young people to take part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program. Tuition is paid by Rotarians and this year's training session will be held at Thousand Pines Christian Camp and Conference Center from April 9-11.

Ten students are being sponsored by the Mountain Sunrise Rotary and Lake Arrowhead Rotary and 11th grade students from the mountain communities have until Tuesday, February 23, to apply.

Applications are available and should be turned in at the Assistant Principal's Office at Rim High School so the two Rotary clubs can complete the paperwork and notify the award recipients. Students can be from home-school, church school, or regular high school, so long as they are in 11th grade.

RYLA provides a unique opportunity for young people to develop leadership skills and self-confidence under the guidance of business professionals who belong to local Rotary clubs.

RYLA emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and personal growth, and aims to:

  • Demonstrate Rotary's respect for youth
  • Provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders
  • Encourage leadership of youth by youth
  • Recognize publicly young people who are rendering service to the communities.
