Join National Night Out Activities August 3Presented By Big Bear Sheriff's Station and California Highway Patrol By Michael P. Neufeld Big Bear Lake, CA -The Big Bear Sheriff's Station and California Highway Patrol encourages local residents to join National Night Out on Tuesday, August 3, by making an effort to meet their neighbors and discuss ways to improve neighborhood camaraderie in their immediate areas, thereby reducing the possibility of criminal activity. ![]() The Big Bear Sheriffs Station invites local citizens to celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, August 3. BIG BEAR In celebration of National Night Out, parents are encouraged to bring their children to the station located at 477 Summit Boulevard in Big Bear Lake on August 3 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. to receive a fingerprint and photo identification booklet.
Your child will be fingerprinted by Sheriff's Department personnel and the booklet is yours to keep as a personal record that includes protection guidelines for you to discuss with your child.
The child identification kits are available free of charge at the Big Bear Sheriff's Station.
Information about other crime prevention programs, including home security guidelines, Neighborhood Watch, and the You Are Not Alone (YANA) program will also be available free of charge.

Deputies and volunteers of the Big Bear Sheriff's Station, as well as McGruff the Crime Dog, will be conducting extra neighborhood patrols within the Valley between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. with informational handouts and goodies.
The Big Bear Sheriff's Station invites local citizens to celebrate National Night Out and join law enforcement efforts to make Big Bear Valley a safer place to live on a year-round basis.

The event will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Arrowhead CHP office at 31230 Highway 18 in Running Springs.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT This year marks the 27th anniversary of National Night Out: America's Night Out Against Crime.
National Night Out, a year-long community building campaign, is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness; generate participation in local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
This year, 37 million Americans in nearly 15,000 communities are expected to participate in National Night Out by turning on their outside lights and hosting front porch vigils.
