Bids for Kids Dinner and Auction PostponedBoys & Girls Club Event Changed to November 22 By Michael P. Neufeld Lake Arrowhead, CA – The delayed state budget and an emergency surgery for a key participant in the 8th Annual Bids for Kids "Autumn Gala on the Lake" Dinner and Auction have prompted organizers to postpone the event from September 6 until Saturday, November 22.
Boys and Girls Club President Tammie Mueller told RIMOFTHEWORLD.net, "we've moved the gala fund-raising event to the fourth Saturday in November to accommodate our honorary chair Jim "Mudcat" Grant and special guest of honor Senator Bob Dutton. It's one of those situations that is totally out of our control.

"We regret the inconvenience of having to switch dates," Mueller stated in an "official" announcement, "because the need for financial assistance for the programs serving young people is even greater this year than in the past because of the economic downturn in the mountain communities.
"We sincerely hope that people will continue to support the annual auction on the new date," Mueller added, "because the financial support generated by the dinner and auction provides daily access to young people in five core program areas—education and career development; character and leadership development; health and life skills; the arts; and sports, fitness and recreation.
"The Boys and Girls Club of the Mountain Communities helps youngsters believe in themselves and helps redirect their lives in a safe and positive environment," Mueller said.
The rescheduled event will still be held at the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa and start at 5:30 p.m. with a silent auction and hors d' oeuvres and beverages, a live auction at 7:30 p.m. and dinner at 8 p.m.
Individual tickets to the November 22 event are $100 per person with reserved tables of 10 at $1,000 per table.
"Call the Boys and Girls Club at (909) 338-9390 for advance table prices," Mueller noted. "We appreciate the continued support of the community because that support helps fulfill the hopes and dreams of tomorrow's leaders."
The Boys and Girls Club of the Mountain Communities opened its doors in 1995. Its mission is to "enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. Today, there are more than 600 members who belong to clubs in Lake Arrowhead and Crestline, and the new club at Lake Gregory Elementary School.
