Emergency Services Open House Today

Sparky the Fire Dog Slated to Attend

Running Springs, CA - The Running Springs Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol will team up with other local agencies to host an "Emergency Services Day" for community residents and guests today (October 11) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Emergency equipment displays and exciting demonstrations will take place along Hilltop Drive from Running Springs Fire Department Station 51 west to the California Highway Patrol Station (CHP).

The Emergency Services Day will offer the public a unique opportunity to see emergency equipment and meet the men and women who are committed to protecting the lives and property of local residents. Fire engines, brush engines, rescue squad, snow cat, extrication and firefighting equipment, safety and fire prevention displays will be on hand including an auto extrication demonstration.

The Arrowbear Lake Lions Club will be sponsoring flu shots to the public on site at Station 51 during emergency services day hours.

In addition, CHP will be hosting a classic car show with many cars on display and special awards given. Finally, special appearances by Sparky the fire dog, and Chipper (the CHP mascot) will delight children of all ages.

Other agencies participating in the Emergency Services Day include: San Bernardino County Sheriff & Search and Rescue Team, Arrowbear Lake Fire Department, U.S. Forest Service, American Red Cross, Rim Family Services, Doves, and Mountain Rim Fire Safe Council.

A variety of CHP enforcement vehicles will be on hand for a close-up view, including the new Dodge Charger. The CHP Force Option Training Simulator (FOTS) will be available and is sure to be a popular activity, allowing the public to experience shoot-don't-shoot scenarios.
