Free Voice Mail Offered to Those In Need

United Way Funds Program Through Local Non-Profits

By Michael P. Neufeld
Monday, November 17, 2008

San Bernardino, CA – "Not having a reliable phone is a huge barrier to obtaining stability and security," according to Allan Collins from Inland Empire United Way. This was stated as he announced a new message system for those in need.

Inland Empire Community Voice Mail (CVM) offers a free service that many mountain residents take for granted, voicemail.

Collins, who serves as United Way's CVM manager, explained that his agency is bringing the voicemail program to the region with the collaborative support of local non-profit organizations.

The United Way spokesperson emphasized that people do not have to lose touch with society simply because they don't have a phone number. Through local non-profits, CVM provides phone numbers and assistance to those in need. Each individual will receive a local phone number and simply records a personal greeting. They can conveniently access their messages 24-7 from any touch-tone phone.

Local non-profit organizations interested in providing phone numbers to their clients or for more information about the Inland Empire CVM program can contact Collins at (909) 980-2857, extension 243.
