Update — Saturday 10:50 a.m.
Big Bear, CA — An illegal campfire near Camp Osito Rancho, has been extinguished.
The campfire grew to a 20-foot by 20-foot spot fire and was extinguished by people in the area.
However, mop up operations are underway about 200-feet away from the Boulder Campground off Forest Service Road 2N10.
Original Story
Big Bear, CA — A smoke check is underway near Camp Osito Rancho, a Girl Scout campground operated by the Angeles Girl Scout Council.
The first report was made by the Butler Peak Lookout at 10:12 a.m. Two pilots approaching Big Bear Airport also reported the smoke.
Last week, a lightning strike ignited two trees in the same general area.
