Small Vegetation Fire Near Jenks Lake Controlled (Update 3)

Update 6:20 p.m.

Barton Flats — The Round Meadow fire was controlled as of 6 p.m. this evening.

Update 3:05 p.m.

Barton Flats — "We have a hand-line around it at this time. Fire is contained at 1/4 acre," the Round Meadow Incident Commander said.

Update 2:50 p.m.

Barton Flats — The Round Meadow fire is in the mop-up phase according to officials on scene. "We have knock down on it," the Incident Commander stated. The fire is on a north-facing slope and will require heavy mop up work.

Original Story - 2:05 p.m.

Barton Flats — Firefighters responded to a vegetation fire off Jenks Lake West in the Barton Flats area. The "Round Meadow" Incident was first reported at approximately 1:45 p.m. Thursday. The Incident Commander reported that it was a 50 foot by 50 foot spot in light fuels, moderate rate of spread, moving uphill.

As of 2:05 p.m., the head of the fire had been "cut off" and the potential was expected to be 100 feet by 100 feet.
