Wednesday, August 6, 2008
San Bernardino County, CA — Caltrans has approved a transportation permit to move two new empty "coke drums", which will require full closure of Interstate 15 (I-15) at the 15/215 Interchange in Devore. The loads weigh approximately 450 tons each and are enroute from Fontana to Utah.
Closure Wednesday (August 6)
I-15 northbound will be fully closed from Devore Road to the 15/215 Interchange from approximately 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. along with the I-15 northbound connector to the I-215 south.
Devore Road on and off ramps at I-215 southbound will also be closed during this period. After the maneuver of the load is made onto northbound I-15, the freeway and ramps will reopen. The loads will then continue northbound on I-15 to Oak Hill Road with reduced lanes until about 4:00 a.m.
Over the next week, the loads will travel northbound on Route 395 toward Nevada and out of the State of California. No movement will be made on Friday, Saturday or Sunday (August 8-10).
Caltrans has been working closely with the permittee and California Highway Patrol (CHP) to insure minimal impacts to motorists.
Motorists are advised to adjust their travel times on these routes to avoid any inconvenience. Please use caution if you encounter the permit load and pay attention to all commands given by CHP and Caltrans employees.
