Discussion Board Addicts Get Buzzed

By RIMOFTHEWORLD.net
Friday, June 29, 2007

With nearly 200 discussion groups, over 24,000 threads, and over 750,000 messages, RIMOFTHEWORLD.net is a noisy place. Every month there are over 25,000 new messages posted. During peak, daytime times, there can be 150 to 200 messages posted in an hour. Keeping track of all of these new messages can be overwhelming, especially for the so-called discussion board "addicts."

"RIMOFTHEWORLD.net is about community," said Editor-In-Chief Scott Straley. "There are members of this community who are much more active than others and giving them the power tools to keep up on the discussion traffic helps them stay active without burning out." And then there is the casual posters and lurkers who want to skim the messages posted without diving into each and every discussion group and thread.

To help all of the discussion board participants, RIMOFTHEWORLD.net has launched "Buzz" (/buzz) — a single page with the 30 most recently posted messages. From there, visitors can check to see what's being talked about right now. But, just like a noisy room, you're read bits and pieces of conversations. So, to get the full story, you may need to click on the thread link at the bottom of each message.

Get In. Get Connected. Get Buzzed.
