Thunderstorms Raise Flooding Risk Near Big BearBy Scott Straley An area of showers and thunderstorms over the northern and eastern Big Bear area communities has been stationary for nearly two hours. Rain, heavy at times, along with lightning and the possibility of small hail and gusty winds, could create dangerous conditions.
The showers and thunderstorms are nearly stationary and may persist into late afternoon. Excessive runoff, especially in recent burn areas, could pose flash flooding and mud slide dangers.
Motorist and visitors are encouraged to keep abreast of the situation and possibly delay travel through affected areas until after the storms have passed.
