Weather: High Wind Warning and Fire Weather Watch (Update)National Weather Service in San Diego By News Team The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a Fire Weather Watch, which is in effect from late tonight through Thursday afternoon.
Very dry air will move across southwest California following the passage of a strong cold front late tonight and early Wednesday morning. Relative humidity is forecast to drop to or below 15 percent by early Wednesday morning. Winds will shift to a north to northeast direction and remain near 25 mph with gusts 45 mph or higher.
This combination of very low humidity and gusty north to northeast winds is forecast to persist into early Thursday afternoon, especially through and below the passes and canyons. The very dry air is likely to linger through Friday.
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.

A deep, low-pressure trough aloft and a strong surface cold front will move across southern California on Tuesday. Strong, potentially damaging winds will affect the mountains and deserts through Tuesday night. The period of strongest winds will occur between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a High Wind Warning in effect from 11 a.m. Tuesday to 11 a.m. Wednesday.
A strong cold front will move across Southern California Tuesday afternoon. Southwest winds across the San Bernardino County Mountains will increase to 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 60 mph. The winds will shift abruptly to the north Tuesday evening behind the cold front, ushering in some of the coldest air of the season Tuesday night and Wednesday. The winds will decrease Wednesday afternoon.
A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
