WHAT: FIRE WATCH
WHEN: FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 30, 2005 (1500)
WHERE: SR-38 FROM BRYANT ST. TO LAKE WILLIAMS DR.
ESCORTS CANCELED

The brushfire on SR-38 continues and the route is closed to all motorists from Bryant Street to
Lake Williams Drive. The fire is 10% contained and the duration of the closure remains
unknown at this time.

Escorts on SR-38 have been canceled. The following communities are under mandatory
evacuation:
Barton Flats
Seven Oaks
Mountain Home Village
Forest Falls

The SR-330 paving project is being shut down and the route will reopen at approximately 4:00
p.m. today, Friday September 30th. No work will take place on SR-330 this weekend and the
paving project will resume on Monday October 3rd if the fire is further contained and not affecting
evacuations.

Motorists are advised to use SR-18 or SR-330 (after 4 p.m.) as alternate routes to the Big Bear
community. Caltrans Maintenance crews began 24-hour shifts last night to patrol state
mountain routes for preventative maintenance to avoid any closures.

Additional information will be released when available.

WHEN: SATURDAY OCTOBER 1, 2005 (1330)
WHERE: SR-38 FROM VALLEY OF THE FALLS TO LAKE WILLIAMS DR.

The wildfire on SR-38 continues to burn and is 15% contained. SR-38 remains closed to all motorists from Valley of the Falls to Lake Williams Drive. The duration of the closure remains
unknown at this time.

Escorts will be conducted permitting Mountain Home Village and Forest Falls communities ONLY. Escorts will begin at Bryant Street and identification or utility bills are required.

The schedule is as follows:
Saturday October 1st from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Sunday October 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The escort schedule is subject to change based on the status of the fire. The schedule will be updated on Sunday afternoon and the new information will be released at that time.

SR-330 will be open to all motorists on Monday October 3, 2005 due to asphalt mix complications. More information will be available for this project and the closure schedule on Monday October 3rd.
