Please help, I need a home for her by tomorrow at 12 or I have no choice but to take her to the pound. She is a great dog, loves kids, she sits, lays down and rolls over when told. She realy is a great dog but like any dog she barks at anything or anyone next to our house. But my neighbor feels that her bark is too muck for him so I have to get rid of my dog or risk the eternal rath of him and I'm new to this house therefor, the gentleman who I am buying the home from would like me to make peace so I am. Please help me find a home for her, I beg of you. She realy is a great dog, you will love her, just remember she is a dog and acts like a dog, she will protect your home LIKE A DOG SHOULD....... thank you. Rob 909-680-9024

I still don't understand why you have to get rid of your dog. Your neighbor cannot make you get rid of her. 2 separate households that live within 200 yards of your house has to complain before animal control will get involved. And even then, they won't make you get rid of your dog. There are other options besides taking her to the pound where she will get put down. There are bark collars, training. Keeping her inside while you are gone. Or, if you are set on finding a good home for your dog, you can simply keep her until you find her a good home. And let your neighbor know you are trying to find her a good home, but it will take some time. There are plenty of people on this website that would help you find your dog a good home. Please, don't take her to the pound. Dogs bark, thats how they communicate. She does not deserve to go to the pound and die. If you must get rid of her, please let her live her life with someone else. We will help you.

" the gentleman who I am buying the home from would like me to make peace so I am"

The home seller has no legal right to make you do this unless you included it in the purchase contract. Sounds like someone's just bullying you.

I too have a pit/lab. She too barked a lot at all the new sounds & activities when we first moved up here. First, try leaving your television on when you are not home and your dog tends to bark. It masks 90% of the outside noises. It's so quiet up here that they "alert" at just about anything and the background noise will make passing squirrels blend in and they won't notice. Keep your drapes closed when you're not around. Between the loose wandering dogs and people cutting through the yard without the 6-foot Orange County block walls, there is constant stimulus for your pooch. Insulate her from that.

Second, keep a squirt bottle of water around. When your dog is barking inappropriately while you're home, give it a quick spritz. Mine stops what she's doing now if I even reach for the bottle.

Don't sacrifice your dog to bullies. Who issued this "order" that is making you do so?

I don't understand what you mean by an "order" to get rid of your dog by Friday. What kind of an order is that and who did it come from?

For the neighbors we had whose dog was tied 24/7 & barked contstantly, it took a heck of alot of calls, paperwork (which AC lost so we had to refile) & time & even then the dog was still there. How long has this been going on?

Forgive me for butting in here. In addition to the previously mentioned suggestions, the dog can be de-barked. I had a neighbor with two yappy little dogs. Another neighbor complained so much that the city required her to either remove them or get them de-barked. They were de-barked and the other neighbor stopped complaining.

I've known several people that have debarked their dogs. All are very happy with the results & it doesn't seem to afect the dogs.
