I live in Running Springs, and I work DTH in S.B. We have a pretty, small, black & white female kitty here at our office building who I have been "caring for" (feeding and water, alittle milk) and she has had 4 beautiful kittens that are about 5 weeks old now. SHE (momma) is not used to people, and I doubt that she could adapt to being someone's pet. HOWEVER! I would like to have the kittens adopted and I will get momma kitty fixed and return her to the only home she has known, here at our office... and cont. to look out for her for as long as she is content and safe here. The kittens probably should be handled and socialized with people soon, they are cute and playful at this young age. I talked to the Humane Soc. here on Orange Show Rd., she said we should get the kittens at 6 weeks, which they are almost at. I can't have them because I have 2 dogs, a teeny home and I don't know if they would need to be fed from a doll baby bottle, etc, etc! PLEASE, I am keeping myself awake at night worrying about them! Can I bring them to Mts. Humane to find foster/permanent homes? I am trying to do the best thing for them, is it too early to take them from momma cat? HEEELLLPPP! Thanks for any word of advice! There are 3 kittens that are white and biscuit color with dark gray tipped ears and tails, and one kitten that looks just like the momma, black & white, great markings.I think they will be long haired as adults. Thanks again!

My daughter called me a few months ago & told me about a cat that had kittens outside her apartment door in San Bernardino. She told me that one of the babies had only 3 leggs & was much smaller than the other two. Being the cat lover that I am,( I already had 3 all were abandoned babies) I had to go check them out. My little tripod was indeed very small & had both eyes infected, she wasn't quite ready to leave her mom, but mom wasn't feeding her as much as the other two. So my youngest daughter & I kidnapped the baby. We went to Pet Co & bought kitten formula & eye wash for her. We bought a baby kitten bottle also, but never had to use it. ( if anyone needs one I still have it) We just soaked the dry kitten food in the formula & she ate it just fine. She is now a litte terror & runs around with the other kids like she has 4 legs!
If your worried about them not being ready to leave mom, I suggest the formula for a couple weeks. Good luck to you & those babies...

I think the Humane Society dth would be better able to take care of the kittens. Mountains Humane Society does not have a facility but relies on foster homes which are very few & far between. You could try & call them to see if they could take the kittens, but try to find a rescue dth as well. Good luck!!
OH! & post this under "CAts Needing Homes", you may find folks up here willing to take in the babies.

Thanks for the replies! Since the kittens are eating the dry cat food as of yesterday, as well as still nursing, I am going to see if someone who works in our building will take one, and I think our maintenance guy will take the other three home to his grown daughter, who can keep them until she finds people who could take them. I did get a voice message from Mts. Humane Soc., which I appreciated alot. I will be taking "momma kitty" to get fixed, probably next week, after her milk dries up. I sure wish I could have one of them! My co-workers call me "The Betty White" of our building!

jimmysgal~you are such a sweetheart with a wonderful, kind heart to have been doing this. You remind me of my aunt who used to do this for years at her workplace. Awesome lady! I got my two fur-kitty sisters from our MHS several years ago as they were the last of the litter to go and the man of the house threatened to "take them to the pound" if HS didn't come and get them. So I agreed to foster them. Needless to say, I couldn't part with them after I had them for a few weeks....they won our hearts. If at all possible, it would be so nice if your four could get two homes as pairs. I have found that by having the two they are great company for each other and they romp and play and give me endless hours of smiles, laughter, and joy. Whenever we have to go somewhere for overnight, we just leave extra food, water and an extra litter box and they are just fine while we're gone. I don't mind leaving them like I would if I had only one. I know they keep each other company.
