Just a reminder for motorist in both directions to stop for school buses when red lights are flashing on undivided roads. For example, SR 18 at Kuffle Canyon.
Thanks for driving safe and protecting our children.

I have seen so many keep going when the bus lights are flashing at the bus stop on Hilltop across from Calvery Chapel in RS. Mainly happens in the morning. is there any way to get an officer out there to check it out?

I had someone right there (Calvary Chapel, RS) flashing his lights and honking at me from behind trying to get me to go while the lights were flashing 2 mornings ago. Bad part was that the guy in front of me looked like he was gesturing "what!?" out his window at ME like he thought I was the one honking at him....

I know what you mean, I've seen and heard people driving so fast around the curve in front of the video store that when they see the bus stopped they almost run into the line of stopped cars and then honk like crazy and go around everyone.
These are our kids out there and hopefully something can be done to catch these drivers who feel they don't have to stop.

Everyone needs to stop thinking about themselves and the "hurry" they are in when driving and be a little courteous. You see it at the five points in Crestline all the time. Half the people coming up from Dart Canyon don't stop at all. I've already seen a little girl hit by a car. Slow down people. And quit tailgating me in a school zone. I'm not speeding up or moving over so you can run down someone's kid.

If we could get a CHP or Sheriffs officer to sit on Hilltop by the "Treasures Trove" and watch they would hopefully be able to catch a few of these idiot drivers. I think what is upsetting the most is that these drivers are more then likely residents here that are going to work at this time of morning.
Shame on you!!!

I hope you get caught

It’s worth noting that the fine for this violation is huge -- over $600.

I have been known however to beep at a car that won't go after the lights turn off. The bus waits until the cars have passed so everybody just sits there.

Even driving an ambulance, if I am driving code 3 (lights and siren) I have to shut down my lights, and stop and wait. Its a good thing. I almost got hit crossing the street in blue jay when I was a lil fella cuz some jerk didnt want to inconvenience his day.

Some people are pretty arrogant. I remember driving south on a road in downtown San Bernardino a few months ago. I had the green, but a fire truck was coming from the opposite direction and was going to turn left in front of me. I pulled over to the right, however, two other people whizzed right by me and the fire truck, delaying the firemen by two to five minutes. Every minute counts in an emergency, be it a fire or someone having a heart attack. The five minutes wasted waiting for these people who should have stopped could mean the difference between life and death. The same goes with a school bus. Children are unpredicatable and don't always look out for themselves. Like the cases where the child's ball gets thrown into the road and he goes to get it without looking to see if there are cars coming or not. Children getting off the bus don't always have their minds on the cars around them. They think about stuff like going home to play, doing homework, etc. That is why this rule is in effect. And it protects the motorist as well. Hitting a kid not only injures or kills the kid, it also does a lot of damage to cars.
