There are no organized camgounds ON, or directly near, Onyx Peak. There are nearby "off the grid" residences to the south, and the Heart Bar USFS campground (and other private camps) off of the 38 to the south.

np Spooky... I appreciate the help. I'm getting worn out.

There's so much to keep up with on scanner trying to transcribe to the incident log and follow all the various websites.

The campground they were talking earlier about evacuating (but decided to just warn the operator of the camp) was at Heart Bar which is right off the 38 towards the bottom of the last grade going up to Onyx Peak. The campground is at the entrance to the Coon's Creek/Jumpoff road and also the road to Fish Creek which they were definitely closing off as if someone was back there they would be cut off if the fire advanced up canyon. Same problem at Onyx Peak (no campgrounds there).

I wish I could help you out, Vicki - I have a scanner but I'm DTH at work today. I know how hard you work to keep us up to date with the most accurate information.
This one is so reminiscent of the Old Fire, heat, winds, size - I'm sure a lot of people are suffering some bad memories today. Accurate information is best to keep everyone calm. Thanks for that.

I am currently sitting at the Las Vegas Airport. I drove over here this afternoon for a flight out tonite.
You should see the smoke. It is wafting all over here. Looks like a ribbon.
The view from the 15 was astounding. It trails all the way this far, and you can smell it INSDIE the terminals (No, it's not cause they allow smoking in here LOL!)
