I was wondering if we should work on a style guide for the Alerts Team? With the upgrade to the team tools and the News Blog changes in store, this might help to be part of a comprehensive style guide for the community-entered portions of the site.

- Things we can include might be:
- What to and not to say in transcribing,
- How to format addresses,
- How to categorize reports,
- How to add outside information (CHP, photos, etc.),
- Rules for dealing with redundant entry or duplication of CHP reports (there'll be an auto-combine feature in the new tool)

And, I'm sure, a few more things.

Scott,

Good idea!

I'm sure that changing the site itself is rather complex, but is there any way to add more options to the drop-down list for incident type? Some suggestions would be: a category for boating incidents, and one for aircraft incidents. We have quite a few situations in Big Bear that do not fall into the 'Fire/Aircraft Down' category in that it is an incident requiring fire or medical response, but was not an actual 'plane crash.'

Being able to merge the CHP CAD reports with the alerts team reports would be a big bonus.
