It may be about time for one of my favorite methods to stick a bass, the buzzbait. Going to a good area at first light and give it a shot.

It may be my immagination, but it seems like some of my favorite bass areas are really choked with weeds more this year.

There is a guy that regularly fishes from his dock and is always catching trout left and right when I see him. (It is in a bay that I prefer to keep secret). This guy is usually sitting in a chair reading the paper every morning at the end of his dock. He has a patio boat in the slip.

It is as if there is the perfect hole or some type of structure that the trout like, right in front of his dock.

I am starting to think that this guy is some kind of magician. It is amazing how often and how consistent this guy catches trout. If you have seen this guy fish, or know this guy…or you are this guy, you know what I mean.

4paws, Check his rig. We were fishing Lake Mary with no luck. No one else was having any luck either. Went over to the little store and bait shop across the way and saw a unique fishing rig invented by, I think, the owner; it was a pair of trebles and a pair of hollow, seal-able, clear plastic balls in place of sinkers. We filled the balls with lake water which resulted in a whole lot more buoyancy than normal sinkers. His intent, and it worked, was to have the bait, eggs, sink much more slowly and naturally than the normal hook-up. It worked. We caught breakfast in no time.

Bob,

Thanks for the tip.

I have talked to this guy and seen his rig. He was just using a basic floating bait rig with green or yellow powerbait. Just a simple treble hook, split shot set up on a spinning rig.

He does cast lefthanded though....maybe that is the secret.
