Not to mention that if you scroll down you can have fun seeing where there are other "disasters" in the country as well.

Isn't there a rule that you cannot comment in public about any quake below a 5 unless it is under your house? A 3.6 is a non-event like the rain today.

Ron Yeppers, heard that too! LOL

Yeah, but one might feel compelled to check out if the small rumble you felt is part of a bigger rumble elsewhere

Silly rule! This horrific little shaker was on/near the San Andreas rift zone, just nine miles west of Crestline! When it occurs that close to the SAF, you have a right to be frozen with fear! Incidentally, Homeland Security says it was probably NOT terrorism-related.

We thought a log had dropped in the fireplace.

You can receive email messages about earthquakes within a particular area and of a certain size. The emails are sent out automatically. You set the parameters so you're not getting an email about every little 1.2 that happens in Nevada, LOL.

...and you can have the short-format messages sent to your alpha-numeric pager or cell phone. The automated e-mails are sent out just a few minutes after the quake occurs. A few years ago, that same service (CUBE-E) cost around $10k annually.

The horror. An entire log. What will we do if there is a 6.5 and a book falls off a table? What words and emotions will be left for a 7.5 or a 9????
A suggested scale of reaction more in line with reality:

1.5 - 3.5 No comment
3.6 - 4.5 "Was that you?"
4.6 - 5.5 I wonder how far away that was? I'll check online when I have time.
5.6 - 6.5 Wow, that felt like a 3.5 right under the house!
6.6 - 7.0 Oh crap, where is my emergency supply kit?
7.1 - 8.0 Run out of the building and watch for falling debris
8.1 - 9.0 It's too late, you're screwed
9.1 - 9.9 -----------------------------------------------------
