Well, guess what. We stopped by the shelter one day last week--you know just to see. The hubby saw a part terrier that he said just kept calling him. Six days later he went to the post office and came home with----our new girl, Sadie. He's lucky he's married to me since this is dog #3. 2 cats and a bird. She's a real sweetie though. Poor girl, you reach out to pet her and she ducks, cringes if you come up on her to fast, is starved for affection and is abt. 15 lbs underweight. We always try to adopt the ones that really seem to need the things in life they should have always had and probably didn't. She's only been here since Friday but is fitting right in with us and our poodle and cats but---the other Terrier, Daisy isn't happy about this and has been pouting for 3 days. I'm hoping our family is complete now but as the hubby says, "I think out here we can have 4 dogs" He also reminded me that he still wants to have a big dog. How does one retire with this many furkids to feed?

I want your husband!

Congrats on your new family member! ANY chance of a photo so we can Awwww?

Unfortunately we retired BEFORE getting involved with all the wonderful people on ROTW in the Pet section ... that's why we need to find a forever home for our foster and I can't imagine letting her go! The first 2 were supposed to be fosters as well ... but MY hubby says absolutely no for keeping 3 ... and, he's probably the smart one because they will all be senior citizens at the same time YEARS from now. HOPE we can afford vet bills for 2 15 years from now.

Oh that is a wonderful story Betty!! Your hubby sounds like a wonderful man as well. We decided to keep Sunshine ( my foster from the shelter ) and it is wonderful to see how far she has come both physically and emotionally. Good Luck and YES we want PICS!!

Showme--believe me, there are many days I would not only let you have my hubby--but I would deliver him to you and give you grocery money. But most days he really is a keeper. I had a feeling this girl would be coming to live with us when he told me he was going to the post office to get some stamps and he never does that. The shelter is right down the street from the post office, I might add. He said look what I found when he walked in the door with her. I didn't have to look---I knew!
Reliable--I'm glad you decided to keep your foster. They do steal their way into our hearts, don't they?

Congrats BettyW. I could feed a few more dogs but the vet bills are almost out of reach for the 3 I have. Son paid for 2 dentals last month. Love my kid.

I've got one like that ... BUT... wish he brought home dogs!

You all rock! I'm so happy you all give these babies a second chance. My dog "kids" are getting on in years and I'm afraid I won't have my Helen much longer. She can barely walk and doesn't see or hear too well. We are really making an effort to at least get her through the summer, as she loves to swim, even with her lousy joints. Today was a bad day for her, so we will just have to wait and see. I appreciate every day with her. We always end up adopting strays or pound dogs, so I know we will eventually get more. Thank you all again for saving the throwaways. A special place in heaven awaits you!

thank-you to. You know what I think? I think these puppies have a special place waiting for them to. Some of them have been thru so much and it breaks my heart. You can look at their faces and know anyone of them will gladly love you forever. Our new baby seems to trust us now but because of whatever is in her past she won't leave our side and you do have to move slow around her so as to not spook her. She's the only dog I've ever had that seems to look at you up close with pure gratitude in her eyes. Daisy is more the type that looks at you with the boy, are you guys lucky you got me. We're lucky that I work with my husband so have been able to take this week off in order to stay home and work out the kinks before leaving Sadie to go to work. We were worried about leaving her alone so soon after her coming here. She's not having anything to do with the crate and we just usually don't crate our guys anyway. Gonna be a lot of catch-up work next week though.

Betty, how are Daisy & Sadie getting along?

They're doing better--tolerance is the word to use here. Daisy got to close to Sadie's bed and Sadie nipped at her, Daisy won't go near either one of us if we're paying attention to Sadie, Daisy love's to play with the hubby but the minute Sadie walks into the room it stops. But--we have coffee on the patio in the mornings and they've started walking the yard together, they're playing together a couple of minutes at a time now and I've walked into a room twice and they were so busy licking each other's faces that they didn't notice me. The real ruler here is Charlie the poodle. Both the other dogs treat him so gently, won't touch his food and they sure won't get in his bed----that makes him mad. It'll work out--just takes time.
