I have a question on this. Does this apply only to people throwing cigs out the car windows? What about people walking around with a let cig in their hand? We had a crew next door putting in a new deck for our neighbors and they were smoking all day. Made me jumpy. I very nicely asked them to be careful and they were very nice back, thankfully. What is the rule on that?

Ya know, I'm a smoker, luv my cloves.... but I have a psrsonal ashtray on a keyring I bought at a smoke-shoppe & never, NEVER, never toss a butt! If I have to put it out on cement or dirt, I pick it up & stick it in my ashtray...

Unfortunately, Rowan, even folks who live up here rarely think to do anything like that. Sad.

You have an ashtray on your key ring? What a novel idea!

Unfortunately I'm a smoker too. I know, I know, filthy, stinky, disgusting habit. I only smoke outside. Throwing a lit cig (basically a ready made fire starter) can smolder for a long time. I wouldn't worry too much about job site smokers. I've never heard of a fire starting that way.
My ashtray when working outside? The pack it came out of! And you should thank me because I'm all over any sloppy smokers around me!
