Hi, hope someone can direct me.......I have an album of stamps, some uncirculated.

Example: I have 3 United States 1936- to 1937 Army Issue, mint condition

need info, or someone with the knowledge, appreciate any feedback, have been looking for dealers in San Bernardino, but to no avail

Thanks for your time, and hope to hear from someone.

Check at the library for a Scott's stamp catalog. That will give very high retail values for your stamps. The Army set you mentioned is probably worth less than a dollar and very few dealers would buy them from you since they probably already have a ton of that issue. Commemorative stamps back the last 75-80 years rarely have any value as far as selling them and ones that are used are virtually worthless. Take a look at the Scott catalog or stop at a stamp/coin store and get a copy of the latest "Brookman" value guide. You could have a "sleeper" but if this is an album some kid put together in the last 40-50 years, that is unlikely. Good luck.

PS, if the stamps were put into the album using stamp hinges they are worth even less because the original gum is damaged.

Seriously? Stamp collecting? I always assumed that was a stereotypical nerd joke and nobody ACTUALLY did it.

Does this mean people really do wear pocket protectors too?
AND STAR WARS CONVENTIONS ARE REAL?

I sit in amazement.

While cleaning up my home office today I came across a 2001 Brookman stamp guide. At that time, a complete set of 10 of the Army/Navy set was selling for $4.95 in find, never-hinged condition. Now that I know where that book is if you have any others to price let me know.

Thanks sooooo much Jim, looks like, by what everyone has told me, I would be better off selling the entire album of stamps together, will go down the hill sometime this week, and try to find a coin/stamp collector........again thanks

Gnome, I imagine you don't have any valuable stamps. I could be wrong, of course, but that is my guess. I think you should probably give them to some child who is starting to collect stamps. They would be very special to that child. Stamp dealers never buy common-stamp collections. If they do, there is some stamp in your album that is worth something. If you could show it to me, I could look and see if there is something worth while. Be comprised that I don't actively collect stamps anymore and would not be interested in buying it, but I would tell you if you have something valuable. Call me at 338-0225. Jim

I tried to help my Mother sell my Dad's Museum quality huge Stamp Collection. There is such a flooding of the market with all these old folks wonderful collections that they are worthless. I was told by at least 5 experts on E-Bay that the best I could do would be face value on these beutifully mounted albums. Ended up giving the huge collection to her Grandson. Jim Huff is right. Best to give it to some kid who has an interest in Stamps. Good Luck!
