Red Husky with orange county tags.

This poor old dog looked like it has been wandering for days, skinny and tired, just walked right up to us and now has found refuge with us. We have taken the dog to be scanned and have followed up with the information on the tags. Post here if you know this dog and leave all pertinent info. If no one steps up to claim, it will have a home here.

No response yet to the found Husky. Starting week #2. I have not seen any posters up around our area or around town. Followed up on 1 poster at a market and the person described his dog and we concluded, not his lost dog. This is a very good dog and acts like it has always been with us. We feel the same way. I'm surprised as I post this that it has only been a week. If no one claims, this Husky still has a forever home. I don't know how long it takes that if no one makes a claim that then I can make a legal claim.

It sounds like Nevar who used to come by and visit our husky in Arrowbear. Nevar moved over behind the golf course and I am wondering if he was trying to get back to his old home. I believe his owner works at Dr. Bialeki's as a records clerk/receptionist.

Sabro,
We are around the Knapps/138 area in Crestline. If your friend will post here describing the dog this will help. Sorry I didn't think about putting what area this dog was found.

I think you have to look for the owners for 2 weeks.. if it is the person at the dentist office, why aren't they looking for their dog? I haven't seen any signs up, and I live near the golf course.

We have an owner that has been looking for their husky/wolf looking female dog that answers to "Kayio" for about two weeks...mostly white with a black design down the back - the color is even down both sides and white wolf looking...had a red collar. The owner's close to VOE Elementary and has been missing her - please call Jesse at 338-2189!

I haven't even seen any LOST posters anywhere as well. Why don't folks plaster this mountain with them as soon as their pets go missing?

Thank you so much for caring for this dog. Looks like he knew where to go! And Bunny's right, from what I know you have 2 weeks to find the owner, but the owner is the one that should be doing all the work trying to look for their dog.

Thank you Bunny and DD: Phoned the number on the thread here, but not the same one he lost. We get fliers all the time around here and people take them down when the dog is found. Perhaps knowing what area this dog was found may spark a memory in someone,(like duh, where's the dog?). Put your lost dog posters up people so we can be on the look out for your lost pet and get them back to you, please! I hope this week flies by fast. Just kidding, I wouldn't really keep a dog from the real owner. They just really better have a good reason why there was no search effort on their part. You have 1 more week owner to step up.

The first posting says he was found with OC tags.. what happened with that? When people don't keep current tags on their dogs, let their dogs run loose, and don't try to find them, I don't feel bad when a better home comes along! I'm so glad he found a safe, loving home. Please keep us posted!

Yes, the tags are from Orange County Humane Society. They wanted us to bring in the dog, then they would run the tags. We gave them the ID number and left our name and phone number in case someone was looking for him/her but, told them we would hold the dog. The personal tag had a name and phone number and we have left messages on their answering machine, but they never responded. I was hoping it was a scenario like someone came to visit the mountains and the dog got away. Tags may be old ones that haven't been updated. What a shame. I keep checking OC craigslist and IE craigslist and nothing yet.

Well, it has been over 2 weeks and not a phone call or poster or posting here has given me a sign that anyone is looking for her or wants her. Now I would like to claim her as mine.
While she has been here with us, she has proven to be a very calm, friendly, loving dog. She definitely has passed "the grand baby test.
While she is laying down the baby crawls to her and uses her as a pillow. She justs picks up her head gives him a lick and lays her head back down. My g-baby also uses her to get up from a crawling position to a standing position so he can toddle around for a few steps. She patiently stands in place until he steadies himself and he is ready to take a few steps.
For an 8 year old girl, she is a magnificent sight to watch her run, so freely ,so graceful and eligant. I now have great admiration and appreciation for the Husky mentality.
So question now is considering her age and her tags.. do I just go straight over to San Bernardino and get another new set of tags? Or is she going to have to have another rabbies vaccination first?

Yeay!!!! You must post pictures!!
Northern Breeds are wonderful dogs, you're very lucky as is she.

I'd get her in to the vet & have he checked out, vaccinated & rabies would be a good idea. For the rabies, SB County usually holds a couple clinics up here & it's less expensive that having it done at the vet. Or you can even buy & do the vaccines yourself, which saves even more money. But being an older girl, I'd get her checked out to make sure she's healthy.
Good for you!!!!

TY DD, absolutely, positively, this girl is going to get the best care. Thanks for your support. I see why you enjoy the northern type, I enjoy seeing her do the Husky dance when I come home, it's funny seeing a dog that looks like a wolf, bust into a tap dance.
