I've been wondering the same thing. I've walked my pups up and down the street and never noticed anybody with 5 dogs. It's a fairly quiet street and I have wonderful neighbors so I don't think it's near me.

"...they ARE supposed to protect the residences after all; they have their jobs..."

So does my home alarm system. Should I have my alarm system start blasting away every time a person, pet or wild animal walks by house? Would you be okay with that? Afterall, my alarm system is protecting my residence.

Ah, Gemini, whoever you are, congratulations on committing the cardinal sin of silly chat spaces and taking one line I wrote out of context! Bravo on continuing the longstanding ROTW.net tradition of purposely misconstruing the point of someone's post. I of all people should have known it probably wasn't a good idea to post too much on here....sheesh! MOVING ON.

Hello, It is a dogs job to make noise when someone comes on to their property, not when someone uses the street. We have a neighbor with at least 3 dogs in their yard, up the street from us. When anyone gets even close, like two houses down, the dogs start to squeal and bark (loud). A dog should be taught to know the difference between people entering the yard or just passing in the street, someone passing in the street is not a threat. Just a matter of lazy people that do not want to train their dogs. It is annoying when I go past and I am sure to the neighbors. I don't know how the residents there can ignore the den. The residents would not even know if anyone is climbing in a window, the dogs are making noise always. They don't give them any attention, just feed them, useless dogs, useless people. Lazy and inconsiderate.

I let my dogs bark up a storm off the back deck(loud enough to be heard a 1/4 mile away,)but only at the nieghbors below who consistently walk their dogs off leash. At least they havn't let their dogs shit in my backyard anymore ever since I returned the presents to their porch. That is the only time they bark incessantly, unless someone's on the property.

When I lived in Oregon, my nieghbor asked if he could install a gate between our yards so my dog could watch his stuff too. I agreed and the neighbor paid for half his monthly food too.
