I was surprized this week to see articles in both the Mountain News and Alpenhorn News that they finally busted the illegal immigrant day laborers that were hanging out in Blue Jay. I for one am glad. I hope that this keeps them from congregating in the Blue Jay area. We do not need them. Unfortunately, the ICE agents that were supposed to show up did not for some reason, and the Sheriff's Department had to let them go. But I think the Sheriff's Dept. got the message through that hanging out on private property is considered tresspassing and will not be tollarated. Even more distrubing is that none of these illegals were living in the mountain area. They were living in San Bernardino and Colton. Does anybody agree with me that it is about time that something was done about this?

Well if the elite like Architecht would stop hiring the slave labor they would all go home.perhaps you can tell them his art studio is ok for a day labor pickup spot.I bet he would change his tune.

I'm assuming that you saw the part on the papers that all 16 men detained were released after the police ran a check on them and searched them. I drive by that area regularly and things are business as usual. I drove by yesterday around 6:30 in the morning and saw a contractor pick up the last two men left waiting to be hired.

Who brings them up the hill?

BTW, I think Archie is kidding when he says he hires them. Just rattling your cage.

You know people always talk about illegal aliens doing jobs legal americans won't do, what jobs are those? When I was young I worked as a dishwasher, gardener and the car wash.If there were any farms where I lived I would have worked there too so what's changed?
I think we make it a lot harder for our kids to learn the value of an honest days work if all the so called undesirable jobs are given to illegal alien workers.

allenkephart,

I agree with you. In the past, all I would see is American citizens working in construction and making a decent wage but now all that has been replace with illegeal immigrants putting the citizens out of work. Not only that, the illegeal immigrants do not pay taxes. Fraudulent SSN# creating addition problems onto the American citizens to straighten out if taxes are claimed on behalf of the illegeal immigrants.

I am specially hit hard paying high taxes so that my hard earned income helps pay for the illegeal immigrants to receive free medical care, education, and all social problems that many American citizens do not qualify for just like so many American face now days.

Please see my previous comment. I meant to say social programs not social problems.

"In the past, all I would see is American citizens working in construction and making a decent wage but now all that has been replace with illegeal immigrants putting the citizens out of work."

Huh, so when did that happen? You mean to tell me there's not a single American citizen working in construction anymore? WOW, call the media someone.

"Not only that, the illegeal immigrants do not pay taxes. Fraudulent SSN# creating addition problems onto the American citizens to straighten out if taxes are claimed on behalf of the illegeal immigrants."

What that means is that illegal immigrants ARE paying taxes, they're just not entitled to file for tax refunds or file tax returns or recoop any of the social security taxes their wages provided for. You should be thrilled about that one. If all construction workers are now illegal aliens, hell that alone should bail out the social security system. They are also paying sales taxes on everything just like the rest of us.

"I am specially hit hard paying high taxes so that my hard earned income helps pay for the illegeal immigrants to receive free medical care, education, and all social problems that many American citizens do not qualify for just like so many American face now days."

Last I checked ALL american citizens qualify for free education; it's called the public school system. Got news for you, if you don't qualify for welfare as an illegal alien you won't qualify for it if you're here legally either. There isn't one set of rules for them and one set for the rest of us. The majority of your taxes these days are paying for an illegal war, which your current president would like you to forget about. So he pumps you up on stories about the horros of illegal immigration instead and feeds into a bigoted fear freenzy. His strategy seems to be working a little too well.

Cedar (Cedar),

You are so far from the truth. Illegal immigrants do make up the great percentage of construction workers. Just look at all the day labors standing around to get picked up for local jobs up here. Four houses were built on my street last year, all I seen was illegeal immigrants doing majority of the building. I might see one white guy to come and review the job. Illegal immigrants do get free social programs - WIC, Med-ical, and the list goes on. Who do you think pays for this?

Cedar (Cedar),

You are forgetting that illegeal immigrants are here illegally.

So that excuses your grossly irrational leaps in logic?

I don't think so.

Cedar (Cedar)doesn't seem to think so. I work in a hospital and we treat a large population of illegeal immigrants with chronic disease and it is the tax payers pay for their treatments.

When I had my house painted and carpet installed, it was a white guy that came out to do the estimate and all illegeal doing the work. The workers could not speak English - very difficult to communicate with them. I questioned this to the company and basically, they did not care. I will not use them again or recommend them. In fact, the carpet co. is locally up here on the mountain. I had to wait for them to install the carpet after the illegeal protest. They did such a poor job at that.

Lanna, which carpet place sent all Mexican labors to lay the carpet. I have ordered carpet from a local company and asked to be sure that installers will be english speaking.

When I was in high school I washed dishes at Denny's, I mowed lawns in the summer for spending money, Used to pick fruit in the town I grew up in cherry's. Then started in construction in the 70's, Dammed if they haven't taken that job away now.

I feel sorry for kid's these days only thing they have do in the summer now is play video games indoors and go to the mall.
