Is there anyway we can get some volunteers out on Hwy 138. I have noticed for the last few weeks there is an unusual amount of trash on 138 between Knapps' Cutoff and Balsam Lane. Has anyone else noticed this? and can we organize a community clean up to focus on this area?

I can give you the address of where the trash comes from and the address of the dog that runs loose that drags the bags out of the trash. The owners of the trash stood outside this morning, looked at their trash can dumped over and bags torn open, saw their trash blowing in the wind up the street,in my and my neighbors driveway, the forest and eventually along the curve. They promptly got in their car and left. Because they know that everyone will pick up their trash. When the girl got in her car and backed into the empty trashcan knocking it over into the street, she paused, looked at it, and drove off. It's now laying in the street and that is where it will lay until some unsuspecting motorist drives by and politely picks it up and flings it into my or my neighbors yard where it will lay for hopefully not the record of 4 weeks. Good luck on your mission. This is an issue with a 1 year history.

Should I start a "Tails of the Traveling Trash Can" thread? I can takes pics and post them hourly of where the trashcan is, and then background shots of their trash, and how far the wind takes it until the Stater or Goodwins bag finally hangs happily up on the highest branch fluttering at all who do the 10 MPH curve.

Bellringer - thanks for the enthusiasm. Now if we could just turn this into a positive effort to get it cleaned up? If you know who the offenders are please call code enforcement. The day this trash appeared there was trash all over the mountain. Most of it got picked up because it was in front of someones house. I believe no one picked this trash up because it is on forest land and there are no houses along this stretch of road. I understand that you want to shame the person whose trash it is but if it doesn't get picked up it doesn't cure the problem. Please help if you can.

Okay, I just called Cal Trans to get it cleaned up (it's a State Highway) but that will not stop the source of the trash. Bellringer please call about that, okay? pretty please? I found the # for code enforcement for you: 909-387-4044 Good luck!
I only posted this on the CCDA thread because I thought it would be a chance for them to look good in the community - not that they don't already, but if we want our community to look nice we have to take care of it ourselves.
Thank you in advance for your help

I have picked up these peoples trash for a year. I asked that you give me the solution. Calling code enforcement is not an option. These trash cans set at the street with no lids. Another neighbors dog runs loose at night and the racoons dump the cans leaving the trash in the street. They see it dumped, yet don't pick it up. The trash blows away into the forest, into my yard and my neighbors yards. When code enforecement gets here miraculously, no trash because it has blown to the property of others. All except for the flattened boxes that we just keep flinging back to their property for the last 3 months and at this very moment lay there, in their drive waiting for the next gust of wind. Now if I call code enforcement what do I tell them? The trash is there now so you need to be here right now? Unrealistic. I can tell you that me and my neighbors for a year have walked the street and picked up the trash. You give me a solution. Please. I will give you the address and you can go knock on their door and tell them that you have many issues with their trash being blown all over the neighborhood and could they please contain it. Lets see if you can stop this problem. Look at the houses surrounding them. Do we look like a bunch of trailer park trash? No. We don't. we all care for our property and have for years. You may contact me at Bellringer40@hotmail.com if you feel you will have better luck then we have. I say we, because though I may be the most vocal of the bunch, it is something that the whole neighborhood has issue with. I do sincerely and appreciate your care and concern for the community. Please don't get me wrong. Just help me.

By the way that wasn't enthusiasm, it was frustration. I have posted for a year my frustration with this problem. It is on a lot of different levels from code enforcement to CHP to county engineering. I can go on and on. I have lived in this house for 10 years next month and another one up here before that. I welcome those that see the problem and want to fix it. Until you have walked a mile in my shoes, don't shoot me down for lack of enthusiasm. Take off your rose colored glasses. It ain't as easy as it looks.

Believe me Bellringer I feel your pain. I had a similar situation DTH - part of the reason I moved up here. I noticed the problem on 138 but had no idea that you have been dealing with this for so long. I did call Cal Trans. If you just give me 3 digits I will call code enforcement. I will help anyway I can. Maybe we can get a phone complaint campaign started here?

I'll tell you what. When I pick up my son today from school, we will go down there and pick up the trash on the curve (AGAIN). It's just a hop down the slope out my back door and across the wash. How about driving by, honking and giving a thumbs up instead of the finger and get the hell out of the road. It takes a village.

I certainly didn't mean for you to do this by yourself Bellringer. If the source of the trash is not cleaned up you will just have to do it again and again. I called Cal Trans - if you clean it up they will think I'm a nut-job. Wouldn't you rather solve this problem permanently?

Hint: the 3 digits I'm asking for are between 353 and 460?

Bellringer - it sounds like you have some pretty strong support here, let'em help you! It must be awful to live next to someone like this slob. Uuuuhg!

If you haven't guessed, I'm one to give many, many, many hints. Let me just dive right in and say it's across the street from 23125. Can't miss it. Look for the white car parked backwards and the POS white toyota - parked backwards.

Thanks Bellringer, I read most of your other hints and couldn't figure it out but I will drive through there again today and see if I can find it. Then maybe I can start another thread with the phone numbers everyone should call to help fix this once and for all.

I'm going down in a minute and pick up the trash on the curve. I had "new pet in the house" issues that sidetracked me yesterday. I know I post alot of silly stuff, sarcasm, and borderline crazy rants and rages, but the trash issue really is one of my main serious issues. I know that it reflects upon all of us even though it comes from a few. I really do appreciate your being concerned enough to bring it up.

I wish I could help you today but I'll be busy until late afternoon. I really hoped that Cal Trans would come out and see how bad it is right now.
Maybe if we continue to complain on a regular basis they will realize they need to stop the problem at it's source. Thanks Bellringer

It's called put up or shut up Darma.
I hope you have a sweet drive home while you go around the curve, it's clean. I couldn't do the other side because the logger chipper guys were there. And well, me being a lowly ass 140 pound female wandering the road with a trash bag and climbing up and down trying to capture the freaking bags hung in the trees, didn't feel quite in the mood to respond to their questions.
Your response is so typical that it kills me. I'm gonna stomp my feet and keep calling Caltrans and maybe the squeeky wheel will get the greese. It don't work that way sweetcheeks.
This is my view. Yes Cal-trans may be responsible for it. My question to me is: Do I wanna sit back and wait for Cal-trans while a landfill begins to form on that curve? No. I don't. It's a very simple thing. I would love nothing better then to have someone else pick up that trash. Reality is, you have touched a freaking nerve from the f*cking trash fairy.(Hint: No, the trash does not vaporize and yes there are people that clean it up without having to form a freaking committee) You have actual human bodies that care about this part of town. Now get off your ass, get a trash bag a be part of the solution! When put to the test don't bow out gracefully.
