If you heard the helicopter moments ago, I believe it was Mercy Air transporting a motorcycle accident victim to one of the trauma centers {either Loma Linda or Arrowhead Regional}. Earlier this evening the motorcycle went down near the McDonalds on Big Bear Blvd cross of Eureka. At the time of the accident {approximately 6:30pm}, an air ambulance was requested, but the ETA was 55 minutes. Ambulance on scene transported the victim Code 3 to Bear Valley Community Hospital.

From scanner it sounded like the female patient had or needed emergency surgery and was to be transported to one of the trauma centers for severe head injury.

The information in this post is hopefully accurate - I pieced it together from reports on SCM and what I heard via scanner. The CHP CAD did not provide any details:

Incident: 1627
Type: Traffic Collision - Major Injuries
Location: SR18 AT GEORGIA ST
Zoom Map: 4811 1G
No information available at this time

Oh I hope they recover & heal quickly!!
I did hear a helicopter & had just thought that they were making sweeps around the mountain to check for fire spots.
Thank you Vicki, for being so on top of all this for us!
