Lake Arrowhead

We need your help. We have two cats one male and one female. They are brother and sister. Due to current health problems unfortunately we need to get rid of them asp. I am pregant and have asthma 3 to 4 times aday. Cats are making it much worse for me. We are looking for someone or somewhere to take them at a low cost. They both are fixed, but not facicinated yet. They are about a year old . If anybody can please let us know what we can do , we would appreciate it.

Did you just get asthma? Did you not know that you had cats before you got pregnant?

You need to do the right thing, get them vaccinated and find a good home for both of them. Being a pet owner is a responsibility not a whim.

That's a great question. Do you think she doesn't know that they were vaccinated? At one year these kitties may be more of a problem than she bargained for. When they're baby kittens they are irresistable.

Instead of critisising her, try to help the two cats, and cats don't always make asthma worse. It depends on the sensativity and type of hair. Wish I could help you with your cats. I love cats, but my dog doesn't.

Not to be critical but to lay the resposibility where it belongs. The cats can't go out and find a new home can they?

I have two dogs and have had cats in the past but you don't just give up on them she needs to actively find a good home for them, I know it's hard but that's what needs to be done.

At 1 year they're probably still pretty cute.

Definitely post under Cats Needing homes. & start contacting EVERY rescue that you can find. Go to www.petfinder.com & start calling & emailing. But do not give up if you dont hear from them. keep it up. Unfortunately it is kitten season & most places are slammed with an overabundance of moms & babies. So you need to be creative in your adveretising. Put up fliers everywhere, the vets, grocery stores, any place that will let you. Also contact Mountains Humane Society & you can place a free ad on their site.Will the cats be ok with you until you're able to find a home(s)?
And in the meantime, if I may suggest you getting a clean air machine, AllerpetC which you apply on the cats' coats & think about having the cats groomed once a week or so. This all should help keep the dander down. Also, have you checked with your doctor about taking any allergy meds? I was on a certain kind (wish i could remember what it was, but it was so long ago), while I was pregnant & it really helped.
