This is my quartly rant about people letting their dogs roam and/or walking them off leash,..and not picking up after them! I don't understand a responsible dog owners doing this!
If you are one of these people can you explain your thought process? Am I missing something here?

You are not missing anything, the other people are. It is called responsibility. My husband almost hit two little dogs yesterday morning that were not on leashes, they were dark in color and this was before sunrise. Who do you think the owners would blame???

I also don't understand why people still think it's okay to not keep their dogs on a leash. Why wouldn't you want to keep your dog safe from getting hit by a car or picked off by a hungry creature?

We used to get a lot of people who would not pick up after their dogs in front of our home in our garden. I finally got tired of picking up poop and decided that the best way to encourage people to pick up their dog's business was to provide them with a poop bag station.

We mounted it on a fence post near the area where we found the most poop. Now, we have found that people are using the bags and keeping the area clean. Of course, coyotes and raccoons don't use the bags and occasionally leave us a 'gift', but that's not so much of a problem.

That's because the coyotes & raccoons have a permit to go DODO in the woods & people don't.

That's a great idea Buttercup! I am a responsible dog owner but have, on occasion, taken off without grabbing a poop bag. I have had to search around for something to pick up the poo. I am going to mount one of those at the front of my house. I seem to get a lot of people who "forget" to bring a bag.

My dopey neighbors would start bringing all their left overs and a bag sealer to our fence & think we were providing a great community service!

I think the best thing ever created are the dog leash/poo bag combos! Have you seen them? I believe Tommys in Blue Jay sells them, and maybe even Stater Bros. It's a small case that hooks right to your pets leash that contains the small plastic baggies.. this way you never forget to grab 'em!

I'm with everyone else on this thread, but here's what happened to me. I walk my little dog around the block on a leash. I used to be obsessive about picking up her poop. But it got ridiculous when I'd pick up her little raisinets lying next to a big footlong. So then I started picking up both, but those turds are EVERYWHERE! So now I don't pick up my dog's when I go around the block. I hate that I don't, and I never thought I'd be that way, but it was SO pointless.

I would never let my dog off leash or go around Lake Gregory without picking up after her! Or anywhere else for that matter. I'm wondering if I cleaned up my neighborhood, how long it would take for it to get all shat upon again?

My next door neighbor (and many others) just let their dogs roam to go poop and it's daily in my driveway.
