Hmmm... I'm replying to my own Blog. How vain. Anyway. I just wanted to clarify things.

First of all -- please don't attack KM, or drudge up things or throw his name around. I'm not afraid of a lawsuit, but I don't want this poor person dragged though that.

And for the second email, I'm not trying to be condescending about technology. I know a lot of people are new to the web and message boards and how everything interconnects. And, really, some people need to careful about how much of their own information they provide. Even with a phone number posted in your handle, you no longer have any anonymity, and anyone with access Google, CA State records, Switchboard.com, and other sites can find out lots and lots of information about you. Posting -- unless you keep yourself completely anonymous -- is like handing someone a business card or inviting to your neighborhood. Astute people can uncover lots of information about people. And, some astute people are mean people and like to hurt others.

Just some things to think about. With 500 to 1,000 messages posted every day, we rely on you to let us know when things cross the line. There's a link under each message to do this. Adding a comment to your complaint will help us pick out what's wrong. (It's amazing how many people use this link to reply to a message.)

Have a great day.
~ Scott

Scott,

I am not sure the legal requirements of this site...

I know where I worked, deleting posts in and of itself would be illegal.

If I understand correctly, all of the websites are required to keep this information on hand should an investigation be need. How do you chose what is "investigation material" and what is not?

So, companies have to side on prudence and retain all information posted to ensure they comply with the law?

In the one case, it goes beyond prudence and compliance with the request crosses the line into destruction of evidence?

To clarify, I mis-typed...

I said deleting posts, that is NOT what I meant...

Deleting all information regarding a post would be a violation.

You have the right to delete visible posts that violate the TOS, eh?

This is A******* ,and I am telling you, not asking you, but telling you to NOT DELETE any information on me, including past articles, and such of the past.

That needs to be on there for google to find..If it is done, ROTW.net and Google will face a lawsuit on hefty charges of causing me to miss out on any opportunities for fame and fortune that may come about because of anything I've ever posted on ROTW...

Email me back if this has been done.

If I receive an email, I will file a lawsuit against both services.. While I doubt I'd get any money from ROTW, Google has really deep pockets, and I'd like just a small TASTE of that. Wow. Then I could buy that Hummer and a big iPod.

We never delete any posts... even the ones users delete themselves. They are retained, offline, for legal purposes.

I was asked to clarify that the email we received was not from a current active user, but from someone who hasn't been on the site for several months. Just in case people were pointing fingers at each other.

Freakishly tall pigmys of Montana, frequently fantasize of forein female amoebas who desparately vote no confidence of the molecules. Furthermore, my itch is gone now. This in depth feel of the flyer left on my windshield compels me to withdraw ocean matter from places not yet thought of,
