I am all for county funds to bring in tourism dollars but do find the allocations to be questionable.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FUNDING
Big Bear Chamber - $45,799
Crestline/Lake Gregory Chamber - $9,719
Fawnskin Chamber - $2,904
Lake Arrowhead Chamber - $133,717
Running Springs Chamber - $4,885
The total amount allocated to mountain area chambers is $197,024.

Why is Lake Arrowhead getting most of this money? Other than shopping in the village and dining at a couple of restaurants there is nothing for tourists to do since they do not have lake rights. Crestline has just as much to offer and more since we also have a lake that tourists can enjoy (until it fills in with silt)and Big Bear has more to offer tourists than any other mountain community.

Do we have any Lake Arrowhead residents bribing a government official?

The amount is based on a percentage of TOT (bed tax) collected in the unincorporated areas of the County. Lake Arrowhead lodging collects the most by far, so the chamber gets the biggest check. It has nothing to do with the Village. Before you say, "what about Big Bear?" remember that much of Big Bear is incorporated and collects their own bed tax and the city keeps all of it. The check amount for Big Bear is based on TOT collected at lodging facilites in the unicorporated areas.
