I wondered myself and decided it was fireplaces, heaters, and ovens being used more than they have been in a long time, due to the Thanksgiving holiday and the 30 degree temps. Curious what the norm is this time of year.
Sent: Saturday, November 24, 2007 05:45 PM
right about the temp itis now.... maybe a few degrees cooler..

Hi Margo, I think too, that a lot of people do not have their fireplaces cleaned as often as usual, and most dont even think about it, we have ours cleaned every year, renter or not especially due to the fact that we burn a lot of pine, , so thats what I think, ok gotta run, talk to ya all later

This fire was caused by a buildup of soot in the chimney. So, yes, it is a good idea to get your fireplace cleaned.

Actually, there were two incidents that this thread addressed, one was a fireplace and the other was an electrical.

I don't know any details on the fireplace fire, but the "oven fire" turned out to be electrical. Poor people, SCE had to pull their electric meter to secure the situation How many mice does it take to make you homeless?

Yes, I know the power was shut off to their house last night. Do they know for sure that the cause was mice?
Sent: Saturday, November 24, 2007 07:29 PM
Casey,

Ney. I don't know for sure what caused it, just some info I got regarding suspicions.. lol. so I am now a rumor mongor

But based on the info I got, kinda skeered me and I am setting traps in the buildup (where our cats can't go) just in case.

Nope, no rumor monger. Just curious because my son was on the scene, and when he came home I asked him what the cause was and he said they didn't know. But it would make sense unless it was faulty wiring.
