I think it died last summer.

I think the founders and organizers were burned out by all the BS inflicted by petty neighbors who didn't appreciate crowds and commerce happening in our business district. Perhaps we have a contingent from West Virginia among us?

There is a Friday night Happy Hour, though! Not sure of the times, but it's at LGCC just the same.

I thought it was only every other Saturday from Memorial Day to Labor Day. If that is still the case, we have one more weekend and then it will start up again.

Maybe the petty neighbors(property owners) didn't appreciate their parking and business entrances blocked by other vendors on a Saturday afternoon. Sounds reasonable to me. I am not affiated with any party but I noticed that last year.

What about doing it at the lake? Tons of parking (sort of) and there would be more room for more attendees...I'm sure it may not be easy to oraganize, but come on...our town NEEDS something like this!

Part of the point was to generate business for those in the area. What is the use of hosting an event that draws people away from your business? Sometimes commerce is sloppy, but one of the unusual aspects of this event was that it was fun and enticed people out of their homes. Some businesses just don't relate to innovation and make it hard for others to thrive.

And for some of those doing the hard work to make these events successful spent more time and money than they earned. Others just worked from their generous spirits and for community service. That's too bad but remember next time somebody complains that there aren't enough good things going on. They require community support to succeed and to continue.

I'm apologize, I didn't realize it was to entice people to the local businesses in the area...my thought was FUN...SOMETHING TO DO...FRIENDS GETTING TOGETHER...SOMETHING POSITIVE. Hot Rods n' Harleys always looked like fun, but one reason we didn't attend was because of lack of parking. I'm sure there is a way to keep this going...

Here I go poking my nose in again. Steve and Andrea Hymer, along with all the staff at Lake Gregory Coffee Company and the volunteers (which I was not one this year) are to be commended for their very hard work in producing the 2005 and 2007 H & H events. These things do not happen on whim - both years took months of planning. Even though the crowds were spectacular and the vendors were in abundance, there was still confusion and disruption making it impossible for the event to continue. ALL businesses geographically surrounding the events benefited from each H & H date. Still, there was immediate dissatisfaction which ultimately cost much more than LGCC recouped.

I hope I have repeated all of this clearly and correctly. These folks deserve high praise for always opening up their facility so that the locals have a meeting place.

FRIDAY NIGHT HAPPY HOUR can’t be beat anywhere else in town!

I live a block away but didn't go this past year because well, to be honest, the music choices annoyed me. It was too hoakie for my tastes. The best times had at H&H nite were when the music was rockin. I remember when Panama the cover band for Van Halen played...what a night, there must have been 1000 people show up that night and it was so fun. Music will either bring them in or keep them away.

Oh and I can't imagine people complaining about the noise, even with the live band with amps and microphones, they aren't a 10th as loud as my neighbors.......lol

I know our band had really good attendance the first time we played, but the last date (towards the end of the summer) attendance dropped off bigtime.

Hands of Praise. It was positive and the commercial aspect is what causes most activities to happen. Do you imagine the County or the Chamber is capable of putting on such an event that you would appreciate I'd love to hear when that ever happened.

To mixiong, I guess you missed the times when there were handmade baby clothes, ladies clothing, crystal jewelry, handmade mini photo albums, toys, wood carvings, motorcycle gear, and antiques.

To everyone in general, I think it might be more successful if it were not held as often; perhaps just once a month instead of every other week. I also found it funny that the "dissatisfied" neighbor reaped the benefit of many customers going in their doors (I saw this firsthand). Whether they sold anything, I don't know. As far as parking, that will always be an issue in a small community, but I think if people were willing to walk a block or two instead of expecting front row parking, they would have a good time and maybe drop a pound or two in the process.
