Martha
Looks like the Lake Inn Camera is not transmitting. Unfortunately I am out of town and not due back until December. The Lake Inn is not open during the week so I can not get anyone over there to take a look until this weekend but I will try to get someone to do that. Looks like maybe someone screwed with it again on Sunday night.

Camera at the Lake Inn is back up. It was a loose electrical connection. The camera that is really down is the WildRose Camera. I had to send it back to the manufacturer for repair.

thank you for restoring the camera It is so nice seeing the GVL scenery when we can't be in town. I have a question. Can the "downtown" camera position be changed at all to get a different view of GVL...to one direction or another rather than straight on the parking lot?? no criticism, just wondering if it can be moved to the left or right for a different view.

It can pan and tilt (left, right, up, and down), but it can't zoom.

If it can move like that, is there a way to provide online controls so someone could move it from their computer even if they're 1000 miles away?
The view of the parking lot does get a bit boring. It would be nice to look west towards the dam or up towards the store and clubhouse. It would be cool that during the lighting of the Christmas tree in front of the clubhouse those of us far from GVL could watch it.
Of course here I am looking a gift horse in the mouth. It's so great that someone has put a web cam in GVL. But human nature is insatiable. No matter what we have we want more:-)

ha ha yes...that's true. I love having access to the web cam, I feel guilty asking for more views.... to the left, to the right, up the street, and yes the Christmas tree would be a great view, too!!

We can and do change the view from time to time depending on what is happening in town. When Roger Hulett had his car show we focused on that and when the time comes for the Christmas tree lighting I will focus on that. WHen the snow comes I like to point it at the road so you all can see the road conditions.
The camera does not have the ability for the public to control. Those are pretty expensive cameras. I would love to have one. It also is pretty limited to what it can see. It is not an outside camera and therefore we are limited to where we can install it. It is in the upstairs window of the Lake Inn. I have never been able to show the dam and only partial lake. Wish I could offer more

When the power goes out in town the camera automatically comes back on line pointing straight ahead. I moved it to point towards the clubhouse.
Circa1950... how is your camera coming?

Actually, I don't think a more expensive camera would allow us to do that. We would need a much faster Internet connection. The camera has pan / tilt controls that could be exposed to the public. However, we would have to allow streaming video to do that. We tried streaming video when we first turned up the camera and it would lock up after more than two people got on it at the same time due to the excessive bandwidth requirements for streaming video. The camera is now configured to upload an image once a minute to a webserver so that it can be viewed by as many people possible. Also we are using Automotive Specialty Tools (Ben and Dani's company) Internet connection for the camera and we don't want to impact their business by using all the bandwidth.
A more expensive outdoor camera would allow us to pan across a greater angle and some have a zoom function. This camera only allows 50 degrees of panning. You have to physically move the camera if you want to turn it more than that.

Went to check out GVL and the web cam is facing inside the Lake Inn, somebody moved it again. I will check it out later, I was looking for some snow. Did it? Is it?

Martha.. the camera is set to stop taking pictures during the evening and start up again in the morning because it is dark. With it getting darker earlier what you were seeing was the inside of the Lake Inn reflected off the glass windows. You posted at 5:28 am which was minutes before it turned back on so you saw the night before. At 6:15 when you posted again the camera had begun capturing pictures again.

Got It. You are so sweet. Thank you again and again.

I see that the webcam is now pointed towards the clubhouse so we can see the Christmas Tree. I also see that we only got rain and no snow. That's OK for me because I'll be driving up tomorrow in a rental car. My 4 wheel drive will be parked at Denver International Airport.

Yes, just some light/moderate rain during the night go to along with the light showers we had on Tuesday morning while I was doing some last minute caulking outside :^)
Only got down to about 37 last night, light mist, gray sky, a touch of fog and a bit of a breeze at the moment.

yes, I pointed the Webcam towards the tree so we could see. The camera turns off at 8:00pm but the tree is lite about 6:00 so hopefully we can see it. Since I am not in GVL right now I want to see it too!
