We have been fortunate enough over the past 5 years to spend time at a friends cabin in Green Valley Lake. I wanted to come up and cut some some firewood up to bring back down the hill - but I don't know what the rules and regulation are - nor where we would go to cut wood. Can anyone give me some direction with this?
Thanks

Well after two major fires in less then 7 years, Bark Beatles and the clear cutting of trees to stop the Beatles. I would ask that you buy your fire wood from the place on hwy 18 were Santas Village once was. We do need what trees we have left. It's also illegal to cut trees up here without the proper permits.

Get a permit from the Ranger station.I think its about 20$ per cord.They can tell you where the dead and down is if you talk to the right person.(not a counter volunteer}

Many thanks – I lived in Laguna Beach through the fires there about 12 years ago and grew up in Australia where we have many bush fires – so I am very sensitive to preserving the environment. My intent was to only harvest dead and downed trees…plus I want the firewood for this coming winter, so green wood will not work anyway. Thanks very much for the advice and the links,
Cheers.

OZ1, I found the place on Hwy.18, where Santa's Village was, to be rather expensive in comparison. This is the time of year to buy because the demand for supply isn't very great. Shop around or Chop down!
