Riverside National Cemetery is the third-largest cemetery managed by the National Cemetery Administration, and since 2000 has been the most active in the system based on the number of interments. It was established in 1976 through the transfer of 740 acres from March Air Force Base.  The cemetery was dedicated and opened for burials Nov. 11, 1978. An additional 181 acres was transferred by the Air Force in 2003.

The fate of Rocky, a Grizzly bear that killed a trainer at Predators in Action in Big Bear, has been announced by San Bernardino County. The county has decided not to seek the destruction of the bear. Rocky appeared in the movie "Semi-Pro" starring Will Ferrell.

Station 128 is located in the “Valley of the Falls” off Scenic Hwy 38 at 40847 Valley of the Falls Drive.  It is staffed by fully Paid-Call force that protects the communities they live in, Forest Falls and Mountain Home Village, while also providing mutual aid to the U.S. Forest Service for wildland fires.

Station 129 protects the mountain community of Green Valley Lake at 33596 Green Valley Lake Road. This station is staffed with on-call  Paid Call Firefighters who live locally.  Station 129 will also respond to assist neighboring mountain areas including Running Springs, Arrowbear, and Lake Arrowhead.

Station 15 is located in the community of Angelus Oaks at 5766 Frontage Road.  It also protects the communities of Seven Oaks and Barton Flats.  They provide immediate assistance to the U.S. Forest Service for forest fires in the area and also protect a large portion of Highway 38 on its way through the area and up to Big Bear.

Station 2 is located at 1511 Devore Road in the Devore community near the busy I-15 and I-215 freeways. It provides all-risk protection to the Devore community as well as the nearby freeway up into the Cajon Pass.  Responses include many freeway incidents as well as providing first-in assistance to the Forest Service and CA Dept. of Forestry on wildland fires.

Station 39 is located at 11877 Oak Glen Road, Yucaipa, and serves the community of Oak Glen.  In addition to the Oak Glen area, this station also responds to assist the City of Yucaipa as needed. This station is operated under an agreement between the Calif. Dept. of Forestry and the County of San Bernardino.

Station 9 is located in the community of Mentone at 1300 Crafton Avenue.  In addition to supporting the Mentone community and surrounding unincorporated areas, this station assists the cities of Redlands and Yucaipa. Station 9 also responds up Highway 38 to assist the U.S. Forest Service and the Forest Falls community.
