I am talking to DH now. He says that
every ridge to the west of him is on
fire. Quite a sight! Burns Canyon is
by Rim Rock heading to BB. He has been
out with the small dozer clearing all
the vegetation.
He looked at the local map and Juniper
and Cedar are in Morongo Valley up in
the foothills. That area is really
burning right now! It had burned
earlier but looks like it came back
towards town now.

{paraphrased}
A CDF spokesman said 25 mph winds fanned the Sawtooth Fire out of a leftover hot spot from a lightning-sparked blaze that started in the same area Sunday.
"Six air tanker planes and six helicopters were battling the fire, which had spread to more than 400 acres this afternoon," said Glenn Barley, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry.
"It had been knocked down and controlled until the winds picked up significantly today," Barley said.
The fire was east of a ridge above the Little Morongo Valley through dry grass and desert scrub heading toward Pioneertown. It is threatening homes and businesses.

Re: [SoCalFire] Sawtooth Complex
(Pioneertown, SBD Co)
BDF stating fire is five miles east of
the forest, and could become a
threat to BDF. Radio traffic from BDF
indicated it was not making a
hard run toward forest yet, and needs
to pass through a drainage
first. Per BDF, fire is burning in a
primarily northerly direction.
Pioneertown is in SBD Co, near Yucca
Valley, roughly 30 miles sse of
Big Bear Lake.
Fire is near TG (SBD Co) 4886 D2.
For terrain & surface details, try
GoogleEarth, search on
"pioneertown, calif".

{note - not a new start; however there is concern about the Sawtooth incident and how close it is to NF land; units that responded to the initial call of where the Arrastre fire was are going to remain staging in the area until they are able to ascertain threat to the area; I've updated this post to the Sawtooth incident}

fire is spreading and threatening NF land; may already be there; do not commit onto 2N02 at Rattlesnake Canyon area due to fire and road conditions; recommend stage 2nd alarm equipment there in the valley until we see what this thing is going to do

Confusion amongst all as to where this fire is. Unit has eyeball on it
and reports that it is one ridge out further from where Arrasta fire
was located."
