Traffic Investigators Seek Witnesses to Early Morning Fatal Collision
Traffic Sgt R. King explains that on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 7:03 AM the California Highway Patrol’s Inland Division Communications Center (located in San Bernardino) received a call of a vehicle found several hundred feet down an embankment off of Old Waterman Canyon Road and Highway 18. Officers from the San Bernardino Police Department, the CHP, and the San Bernardino City Fire Department responded to the scene.
Investigators learned that sometime during the late evening or early morning hours, Mr. Phillip Hanson (age 22, of Lake Arrowhead), was driving south on Old Waterman Canyon Road in a 1986 Subaru. For unknown reasons, Mr. Hanson was unable to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and continued down an embankment. Mr. Hanson died at the scene. Police investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating any witnesses to this collision.
The investigation is continuing. Any inquires or information should be directed to Detective John Cardillo at 909-384-5735.
